Report Card ; West Indies v Srilanka, 1st test

ODI series and T20I series was clinched by West Indian team. As both teams are preparing for test Series now. First test of the series will be played on 21st March at North Sound.

West Indies appointed Kraigg Brathwaite as their test captain. “Kraigg was able to motivate his players to play to a very high level and create the culture we are looking to establish where the team showed a collective determination to fight and a real hunger for success”, West Indies cheif selector told after the Board announced this decision.

West lost their 8 wickets on end of day two but they still ahead of Srilankan team by 99 runs. Suranga Lakmal got the wicket of West Indies’ new test captain Kraigg Brathwaite early on day two. While Kyle Mayers, John Campbell looking solid but unfortunate to score big.

Joshua Da Silva & Rahkeem Cornwall’s partnership helped west indies to score 268 on day two after early wicket falls. Rahkeem Cornwall is still unbeaten on 60 runs. He smashed two huge sixes alongwith 9 fours. Although Joshua Da Silva was got out Chameera in the Third session of day two.

While from Srilankan camp, Suranga Lakmal grabbed his five-for. He bowled 24 overs alongwith 9 maiden overs. Dushmantha Chameera took two wickets and Lasith Embuldeniya grabbed one wicket.

West Indies completed their inning on 271. And they were lead by 102 runs after the first innings of both the sides. Now, this is time for comeback and Srilanka did this very well. Batsman were looking in good touch, sticked like a glue.
Srilanka lost their captain very early but Lahiru Thirimanne and Oshada Fernando performed very well scored two important match saving knocks.

Four centuries and one hundred came from Srilankan camp. Pathum Nissanka who was the cneturian scored a century on his Int’l debut
While Niroshan Dickwella departs on 96, still no century for Dickwella. He’s is the only player in world right now who have most fifties in test cricket without scoring a ton.

Srilanka ended their inning on 476 runs an put the target 375 runs ahead of host west Indies. West Indies came to bat on the end of the day four, West Indies lost their first wicket as Vishwa Fernando strikes.

Day 5

Test cricket at his very best ! West Indies successfully drew the test match. Nkrumah Bonner is the hero of last day. Srilankan bowlers put all the efforts but Nkrumah Bonner, Kraigg Brathwaite and Kyle Mayers helped west Indies to draw the test match.

Nkrumah Bonner was the unbeaten on 113 runs and played more than 270 balls. While captain Kraigg Brathwaite played 124 balls and Kyle Mayers defended 113 balls, score a brilliant fifty.

Nkrumah Bonner is one the best find by West Indies, he was man of the match in last test series played by West Indies. He smashed Bangladeshi bowlers and three fifties in four matches. Woo ! What a player. For his stunning Performance he’s awarded by man of the series.
