Steve Smith to no.1 in ICC test rankings ; Kane Williamson missed his no.1 spot


Recently, International cricket council (ICC) announced their test rankings newly. Steve Smith who is currently playing for cricket Australia is moved to no.1 position in rankings of ICC. Recently, New Zealand won their first ever test series in England since 1999. But Kane Williamson not in good form in results he lost his first position in test rankings.

Steve Smith was brilliant in his last test series. He smashed 3 fifties alongwith one hundred against team India in Border Gavaskar trophy 2020-21. Steve Smith’s rating in 891 currently in rankings while Kane Williamson is placed on no.2 with a rating 886.

This means that Steven Smith has been at the top for 167 Tests played worldwide in total, only behind Garry Sobers (189 matches) and England’s Viv Richards (179 matches).

Along with Kane Williamson, English captain Joe also not in good form in his last series. He slipped from his 4th position to 5th position. While team India’s captain Virat Kohli moved to no.4 in test rankings. Only three players are ahead of Virat Kohli in this newly came test rankings.

While South African wicket keeper Quinton de Kock regain 11th position in rankings after the man of the match Performance in first test against West Indies. His 141 runs helped him regain his position. While South African Quicks also made a brilliant comeback in rankings. Kagiso Rabada reached at the seventh spot in bowlers rankings.
