Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler T Natarajan has been tested positive for covid-19. Six members of Sunrisers Hyderabad including Vijay Shankar have been isolated. While their today’s game v Delhi Capitals will go-ahead as per schedule.

The left-arm seamer of Sunrisers Hyderabad, T Natarajan has sampled positive for Covid-19 at a scheduled RT-PCR test in Dubai and has isolated himself from the rest of the squad. Six other members of the franchise, who were observed as his close contacts, are also in isolation.

The medical team IPL has identified six close contacts with T Natarajan. All have also been isolated. Vijay Shankar is the player while the other 5 from the support staff.

Vijay Shankar (Player), Vijay Kumar (Team Manager), Shyam Sundar (Physiotherapist), Anjana Vannan (Doctor), Tushar Khedkar (Logistics Manager), Periyasamy Ganesan (Net Bowler) are the members.

“The rest of the group including the close contacts underwent RT-PCR tests at 5 AM local time this morning and the test reports are negative. As a result, tonight’s game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals will go ahead at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai. ” the statement from IPL management.

This is yet another setback for T Natarajan, who was on a comeback phase after undergoing surgery on his knee that put him out of action after just two IPL games earlier this year. He had injured his knee during India’s tour of Australia and he missed all games at home against England too. Already he was left from the T20 world cup squad, now it becomes too difficult for Natarajan to get back into the Indian side.

The left-arm seam bowler was looking forward to doing well and it is very much unfortunate that he will continue to stay absent from the game until he tests negative twice after finishing his isolation period of 10 days. The rest of the close contacts will be continued to be examined by the medical team. He has been forced into isolation for 10 more days and he has to pass two RT-PCR tests to join IPL 2021 bubble again.
